Hot Tubs and Hosepipe Bans

Q. I live in an area affected by a hospipe ban, does this mean I can't buy and use a hot tub?

A. No, not at all. A regular hosepipe bans prohibits only the following:

1. The watering of lawns via a hosepipe. Using a watering can or similar is ok.

2. The washing of private cars via a hosepipe.

The filling and refilling of hot tubs is perfectly legal during a hosepipe ban.

Hose pipe bans are a preventative measure by water authoritites to stop the public using large amounts of water, such as hosepipes or sprinkler systems left on for extended periods of time. Hot tubs, once full, re-use the same water for several months over using water very efficiently.
