The advantages of 13 amp hot tubs.

When searching for hot tubs, not only are there many shapes and sizes available, you can also choose wether to buy a '32 amp' spa (or similar) or opt for a 13 amp configuration. But what exactly is a '13 amp hot tub' and what advantages are there in owning one?

'13 amp' refers to the maximum amount of power that a product may use, i.e. when a product is switched on and/or operating at full speed. 13 amp is the standard UK domestic power supply for all regular houshold items such as kettles, televisions and so forth. What for hot tubs then? Is this supply capable of providing enough power for hydrotherapy massage.

It seems yes is the answer, as Ross from thehottubssuperstore explains; "Our 13 amp hot tubs such as the Antigua, simply plug in the wall on a regular 13 amp plug, but due to having just one pump, this is perfectly acceptable. The Antigua uses a smooth powerful 2hp pumps which delivers real power through 26 jets. We sell around 200 Antigua hot tubs every year, so our customers certainly like them".

It is worth noting that in many cases, it is only larger spas with a higher number of jets and pumps that require more than 13 amps. If you want a hot tub of modest size with 30 jets or so, then 13 amp hot tubs could well be worth as look!
